Description
If your goal doesn’t have a date, it doesn’t count.
It’s easy to get caught in the cycle of activity, attending meetings, making to-do lists, brainstorming ideas, but without clear timelines, all those efforts remain motion, not progress.
If you want to learn a new skill
Don’t just say – I’ll start learning data analytics next month.
Say – I’ll complete my first online module by September 15th.
If you want a new Job
Don’t say – I’ll update my CV soon.
But – By Sept 10th, I’ll update my CV and apply to 3 roles.
If you want to be more visible on Social Media
Don’t say – I’ll start being more active on LinkedIn.
Say – I’ll post one thought-leadership piece every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks.
As a leader at work
Don’t say – We’ll improve team communication
Say – By September 1st, we’ll implement a weekly 15-min sync to improve team communication.
To improve your finance
Don’t say – I’ll start saving soon.
But – From this month, I’ll save 50,000 every payday.
Can you see the difference?
One is wishful thinking.
The other is measurable, trackable progress.
Parkinson’s Law states: If you have all day to do the job it will probably take you the whole day, but if you only have two hours, you’ll find a way to do it in two hours.
As you create a plan today, Give every Goal, Task or Activity a Deadline.
Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in motion without progress.
Cheers!
